About: But First, Crochet
Hey crochet friend,

I’m Jess, a yarn obsessed mom of 4 (including preemie triplets), wife, healthcare worker, and coffee lover.
When I’m not working in the nursery/NICU, heating up chicken nuggets, or sipping a venti vanilla sweet cream cold brew, you can find me snuggled on the couch with my cavapoo, crochet hook, and lots and lots of yarn.
I’m a self taught pre- Youtube era crocheter. I was always frustrated trying to figure out patterns on my own and decided to teach others, hopefully you too, the things I wish I knew when I first started.
I love to make crochet simple so I decided to turn my love for the craft into “But First, Crochet”. “But First, Crochet” is a hub for beginners and anyone who loves to crochet make something beautiful without it being overly complicated.
With lots of help and encouragement, we will settle the mind, relax and unwind with yarn to improve your crochet skills.

One more important thing
about me that I’d love to share with you. As a mom of 3 preemies, the NICU holds a special place in my heart, I’ve made over 500 and counting crocheted octopuses for preemies to help comfort them during their NICU journey and I hope maybe you will consider giving back with your crochet too!
