Now let's go through a step by step photo and written explanation of how to crochet the heart.
Step 1: Crochet a Magic Ring (circle)
Create a magic ring by wrapping the yarn around your fingers, pulling a loop through, and securing it with a slip stitch. This forms the center of your heart.
Step 2: Chain Stitch (ch)
Chain 3
Step 3: Form the First Half of the Heart
Work 2 double crochet stitches (dc) into the magic ring.
Next, make 3 half double crochets (hdc) into the magic ring.
Step 4: Create the Bottom Tip of the Heart
Make a double crochet (dc) to create the bottom of the heart.
Step 5: Form the Second Half of the Heart
Repeat the process for the second half of the heart only in reverse. Made 3 half double crochets (hdc) into the magic ring.
Next, make 2 double crochets into the magic ring.
Lastly, chain 3.
Step 6: Slip Stitch and Tighten
Slip stitch into the magic ring and tighten the magic ring.
Step 7: Weave in Ends
Use a yarn needle to weave in the ends, ensuring a tidy finish to your crochet heart.
BUT, if you're lazy like me, I tied my 2 ends in a double knot in the back and snipped my ends off as close to the knot as possible.
Step 8: Optional Embellishments
Get creative! Add embellishments such as buttons, beads, google eyes or embroidery to personalize your hearts. Leave your ends and knot them together as a keychain or ornament.
Versatile Uses: Now that you've mastered the art of crocheting quick and easy hearts, let's explore the many ways you can use them:
Keychains: Tie your ends to form a keychain or add a key ring/chain.
Appliques: Sew or glue hearts onto clothing, hair clips or accessories for a lovely embellishment.
Garland: String multiple hearts together to create a delightful garland.
Bookmark: Slip a heart onto a ribbon or chain for a cute bookmark. I left a long tail, (about 4 feet) and crocheted another heart for my bookmark.
Pocket Hug: Share the love by gifting pocket-sized hearts to friends and loved ones. I like to leave them in random places like the library, park, hospital, or restaurants as random acts of kindness.
Learning to crochet quick and easy hearts in just one round opens up a world of creative possibilities. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter or a beginner, this project is both fun and rewarding. Experiment with colors, sizes, and embellishments to make each heart uniquely yours. Happy crocheting!
